We assist low-income women and men who can show us that they:

bullethave limited funds, with proof of their monthly wages or other sources of income and any property, and
bulletlive in Los Angeles County, and
bullethave a family law or domestic violence case in Los Angeles County, and
bulletare able to come to our office for assistance.

How to Get an Appointment Top of Page
bulletThe only way to get help is to call us first for an appointment.
bulletThe telephone number to call is (213)388-7515. Listen to the messages on this line which tell more about our services and when to call for an appointment.
bulletBecause so many people need our help, it may take a long time to reach us and the telephone lines are often busy.
bulletIf you come to our office without an appointment, we cannot help you.

Do Our Services Cost Anything? Top of Page
bulletWe do not charge a fee for our services.  However, donations are gladly accepted.
bulletClients are responsible for paying court costs, such as filing fees. The court may waive a portion or all of these fees if the person’s income is low enough to fit within the fee waiver guidelines.

What Happens When You Come to the Center? Top of Page
bulletVolunteer lawyers, paralegals and students will help you prepare your own papers.
bulletYou will be given instructions on how to go to court by yourself and be your own lawyer.
bulletYour will be asked to provide proof of your income and address in Los Angeles County.
bulletYou should expect your appointment at the Center to last all day.
bulletOther persons will be learning at the same time with you.
