2010 New Volunteer Training

The Center’s Family Law Training for New Volunteers was “informative,” “fantastic,” and “excellent,” according to more than 70 attorneys, paralegals and students who came to learn as much as they could in a single day.

The prospective volunteers were grateful for the chance to build professional skills and earn legal education credits while preparing to undertake pro bono work. After the session in October, one volunteer wrote, “I learned so much and am even more excited about volunteering at the Harriett Buhai Center.”

Since then, most of the day’s participants have started to fulfill their commitment to volunteer 50 hours assisting low income families with issues of domestic violence, custody, paternity and support.
