Recognizing the Center’s Rising Stars

Success can be defined in many ways. One measure is contribution to public service and community welfare. For 7 Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law volunteers recently recognized by Super Lawyers magazine as Southern California Rising Stars, their ascent includes helping very low-income family law litigants.

The Center extends well-deserved congratulations to Johnna K. Boylan (Harris • Ginsberg LLP); Elizabeth A. Erickson (Lewitt, Hackman, Shapiro, Marshall & Harlan); Dena J. Kravitz (Harris • Ginsberg LLP); Michael L. Maguire (Cohen & Maguire); Theresa A. Steen (Law Offices of Judith R. Forman); Deborah C. Sun (Kolodny & Anteau); and Christine V. Twining (Law Office of Christine V. Twining) who collectively contributed 335 hours of service to the Center in 2012-13 while representing many indigent clients in court. “I am truly heartened to have so many of our volunteers featured in the Rising Stars 2013 family law roster. I enjoy their energy and commitment to the Center,” said Betty Nordwind, Harriett Buhai Center Executive Director. “I am grateful that for them, success includes giving back to their community.”
